  2. Awesome! Just awesome!

I just got an SG1 recently. Needs work... stay tuned. Excellent find, young chap.

  3. Matt, you're looking hale, healthy, and happy! Congratulations on the acquisition and graduation -- you're just one more step along life's adventures...

  4. I'm glad to see everything is going so well for you, although it's some weird kind of achievement that _you_ have succeeded at one of _my_ goals! (the SG-1, and you'll probably beat me to a Mustang, too) You're having a great life. Cheers!

  5. Congratulations on your graduation! That year Mustang was one of the greats. I am happy for you that you will be able to get one. Your Hyundai is not a fancy muscle care, but the company makes mechanically good cars at a price that is difficult to beat. (no I do not work for them -- I prefer German cars)
Be careful at Panera. Their food is excellent and if you get to taste test it you may gain many extra pounds! We just had one open in town and it is one of my favorite places.
Finally congratulations on the SG-1. You are very luck to have one. I have heard noting but good about them. I really like the type face on yours. I think the slugs are the same as Facit used on my TP-1. If not, they are very close.

  6. Great, Matt, congrats on the graduation and the SG1! I see you expertly used the little "th." So a journalist actually carried an SG1 around with him on his travels?? He must have had a Sherpa. :)

  7. Double cheers to you, Matt! Nice to see that big "I'm a graduate!" smile on your face

The typeface of the SG-1 looks awesome. I hope you can also post a photo of the machine; it would be great to see it.

  8. Yes show us a photo! It's always great to see typewriters looking "brand new" after Tom's excellent work.

An Olympia SG-3 was my main machine all through high school. After lugging it around to six different houses I got rid of it. It's one of my biggest regrets--I kind of think it's how my brother feels about leaving his first wife. I may never find another one like her.

I'll be curious to hear about your car repair experiences. I've just picked up a 1995 Honda Accord and decided this is going to be the machine I maintain myself. Unfortunately my only qualifications towards car repair are my good intentions and a wee bit of free time. How do you get into this stuff, and how do you go about learning what you don't know? Do you have someone in your family who is a mechanic that you can work with?

Always excited to hear about your adventures, and congratulations all around!

  9. Thanks everyone! And Winston, I'll put a photo up of it very soon. And as far as getting into cars, I've been a self-proclaimed car nut for over a decade (yes, that's over 10 years!). As far as learning about what I don't know, one of the best resources I have is the internet. Anything I don't know I can always Google, which really is a big help. But I am lucky to have a couple of friends who are also really into cars, and one happens to work at an auto shop as a mechanic, so that helps a lot!
