I am jealous of your impending Ambassador! It really does look like the typewriter to end all typewriters.
But good grief, where are you going to put such a thing? Will it go to college with you? If it becomes part of your regular typewriter rotation, will you wear a back-brace when it comes time to "rotate" it?
Fah! I'm just mad at myself for letting my Olympia SG3 go, ten years ago. I was so tired of carrying that heavy thing around with me, I left it at the dump's swap-shop. What I should have done, I should have left it in my mother's attic. She still has my 1980 IBM PC up there, and that machine still plays Zork and Centipede. It lacks a graphics card, too, just like a typewriter. Monochrome amber was the way to go in those days.
Give your ambassador a good home, and know that if you ever wear it out, you will have written 1000 novels. Or about a million typecasts!1
Thanks! It really is such a nice typewriter, and I really can't wait to get it. As for where to put it, I've got a desk that'll get the job done! I actually have my dad's old 1987 Mac Plus, and he gave it to me a couple of years ago, and I really think it's neat! I love those buckling spring keyboards!
Nano is going quite well this year. I'm not as good as Mr. Clemens, having already finished his novel and 50K word count, but I'll get there (word count is cake, but THE END won't be until December).
I did get a new Hermes 3000. French keyboard purchased in Switzerland and shipped to my home, but since its a Christmas gift, I haven't let myself play with it yet.
Yeah. my Hermes will be getting here in early December, just in time for the Christmas season! I'm going to start playing with it right away, because I've got a big paper due on the 20th, and the Hermes should help me fly! It's actually my first Hermes, so I'm really excited!
Been too darned long since I got a new typewriter. Been trying to give some away. You know how it gets to the point where you have too many and you can't enjoy the ones you have?

ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten to that point yet, but I hope I don't anytime soon!
