  2. I don't have an 88, but if the linkage is at all like the linkage in the Smith-Corona portables, you can fix it yourself -- there's what looks like tweezers that pinch around a link and can be manually connected or disconnected.

Then again -- it's probably completely different!

  3. Oh what a pity I enjoyed the daily typecast but as you say every two days should be fine too :) Congrats for keeping it up a whole month

  4. Thanks! David! And Richard, trust me. I spent at least an hour with the machine trying to fix it, all while cursing as I kept accidentally hitting the "S" key, thus causing the linkage to swing down and have me try to push it back up for another 10 minutes. I'm just going to bring it to my local repairman, and that shouldn't be more than $10.00, so that's good. By the way, let me know if you find an 88, as I have a scan of the manual you can have! They're brilliant machines.

  5. Hey Matt, just discovered your blog from Strikethru or something and all the crazy letterheads caught my eye. Then I started reading your typecasts. Your blog and Strikethru are tops. Good luck with the scanner and typewriter and keep posting. I may get in the game too and start up a typecast, looks like fun.
