Can't go wrong with a Royal QDL and that is a nice price, especially in good condition. I'm more partial to the crinkle paint, round key QDLs, but those boxy tombstone keys are pretty cool, too.
Well, I guess I'll have to get the QDL! And Mr. Polt, I'll be doing an un-boxing video as well! I think that it should be really neat, and it'll be different than seeing what I write, when you can just be right there! (Almost) And, I think that un-boxing videos like the one I'll be doing make you feel like it's Christmas year round, even though we're only a couple of weeks away from it!
I love being given typewriters by people who no longer use them. I've been given two from acquaintances (a Remington 5 and a funky cheapo machine that has a battery operated radio on it) and it's a fun experience to hear the stories that come with them.
I echo Richard and Deek's sentiments. While the earlir QDL has a much different look, I've found that the later ones (the boxy ones) type equally well and still look very cool.
I want to see a video! Can't wait for your analysis and review, as I have no experience with big Hermes. Hermeses?
ReplyDeleteThe boxy QDL's seem like very good little typewriters to me. (And they really are relatively quiet.)
