The Hermes Is Here! (I Shall Call Him, Godzilla)

  1. Great pickup, especially for only shipping.

Since I have never typed on an Ambassador, I can't say plus or minus about its performance/feel compared to my SG1 (which I would also put at the pinnacle of manual typewriter manufacture and quality), but I will say the Hermes has quite a different look and that may be something that's more acquired, maybe enough to give the SG1 an edge. Maybe.

I love the look of my SG1, the crinkle finish, the color, the chrome...but I also love my Royal QDL with the same finish and chrome accents...

  2. I haven't had the pleasure of typing on either one but congratulations on getting the Ambassador. I suspect I would be on your side Matt since I prefer the feel of the Hermes 3000 over any of my five Olympias.

  3. Deek, the Ambassador is definitely enough to gve the SG-1 an edge! As far as smoothness goes, the Ambassador beats anything hands down! And Notagain, this Ambassador is, and I'll say this again, a 3000 on steroids! It's just pure awesomeness.

  5. That's a big machine right there.
I wonder how it classifies in size/weight to a Royal Empress? The Empress is really way bigger and heavier than necessary; I get the feeling the Ambassador is a little more efficient in terms of its use of space.
    Looks great!

  6. Oh, this thing is bigger than a Royal Empress, but it indeed does make use of its space!

  7. Good grief, that's not a typewriter, it's a small building for producing documents!

But with all that room, the machinery must be really slick.

cheers, merry christmas, happy holidays including Hannukah, Kwanza and Solstice!
